ညနေစောင်းချိန်မှာ ရွှေတိဂုံဘုရားဟာ မြို့ပေါ်မှာ ရွှေရောင်တောက်လာပြီး ကန်တော်ကြီးဘက်က လေညင်းက ခေါင်းလောင်းသံတွေကို သယ်လာတတ်ပါတယ်။ အဲဒီအချိန်ရဲ့ ရန်ကုန်ဟာ ကျွန်မအကြိုက်ဆုံး စာအုပ်တစ်အုပ်လိုပါပဲ။ ကျွန်မနာမည် နန္ဒာ ပါ၊ အသက် ၃၅ နှစ်၊ မြန်မာပြည်မှာ မွေးပြီး ကြီးပြင်းခဲ့တယ်။ သမိုင်းစာဖတ်ရတာနဲ့ မြို့လယ်က ကိုလိုနီခေတ် လမ်းဟောင်းတွေကို ချစ်တယ်။ မြန်မာလိုနဲ့ အင်္ဂလိပ်လို ပြောတတ်ပြီး စကားပြောရတာကို ရင်းနှီးမှုလောက်ပဲ နှစ်သက်ပါတယ်။ ကျွန်မနဲ့ ချိန်းတွေ့ရတာ ချစ်သူနဲ့လိုပါပဲ၊ ညစာကို အေးအေးဆေးဆေးစား၊ ပုံပြင်တွေပြော၊ ဖြည်းဖြည်းနမ်း၊ ပြီးတော့ စိတ်ငြိမ်စေတဲ့ နှိပ်နယ်ပေးမှု။ စုံတွဲတွေကိုလည်း ကြိုဆိုပြီး တစ်ခါတစ်ရံ အမျိုးသမီး သူငယ်ချင်းတစ်ယောက်ကို ဖိတ်ခေါ်တတ်ပါတယ်။ ဆံပင်ရှည်အညို၊ မျက်လုံးညို၊ အရပ် ၁၆၁ စင်တီမီတာ ရှိပါတယ်။ ကျွန်မရဲ့ သီးသန့်တိုက်ခန်းကို လာနိုင်သလို ဟိုတယ်ကိုလည်း လာပေးပါတယ်။ ရန်ကုန်မှာပဲ နေပါတယ်။ At dusk the Shwedagon Pagoda turns gold above the city, and the breeze off Kandawgyi Lake carries the sound of temple bells. Yangon at that hour is my favourite book. I'm Nandar, 35, born and raised in Myanmar, a reader of history and a lover of the old colonial streets downtown.
